A Freshdesk alternative
that knows who pays you.

Freshdesk handles tickets well. But if you bill clients for your time - hourly, retainer, or monthly - the helpdesk is only half the job, and the other half ends up in spreadsheets. Tend keeps the ticket and the invoice in one place.

When Freshdesk is the right call

Internal support teams and product companies doing customer service at volume, especially on the free tier or when you want a large marketplace of channel integrations. It's a mature, polished ticketing product with a big ecosystem.

When Tend is

IT and service businesses whose tickets end in an invoice: time on tickets, retainer hours per client, provider costs on-billed, assets tracked per organisation. If you've ever reconciled a helpdesk against a spreadsheet against Xero, that's the job Tend deletes.

Freshdesk figures as published mid-2026 - Freshdesk's pricing page has current details. Freshdesk is a trademark of its owner; Tend is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Tend prices are in US dollars.

The pattern we built Tend against: a small IT provider runs Freshdesk for tickets, Toggl or a spreadsheet for time, another spreadsheet for retainer hours, and a monthly evening of copy-paste into Xero. Every hand-off between those tools is somewhere revenue leaks - unbilled time, forgotten expenses, retainers quietly overrun.

In Tend the ticket carries its time entries, the client carries their rate and retainer, and the invoice assembles itself from work you already recorded - then lands in Xero or QuickBooks as a draft for you to send. Moving from Freshdesk is the smoothest path we have: a dedicated importer reads Freshdesk CSV exports directly, conversations and all.

Moving is the part we take off your plate: importers for Zendesk and Freshdesk exports, a documented CSV path for everything else, and a human - the founder - doing the migration with you, free. See pricing or how your data is handled.
